Style Post: Santa Monica Shopping

So today me and the boyfriend hit Santa Monica, CA, for some serious shopping for the first time since we got to LA, and my gosh it didn't disappoint! Shops included: Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Zara, Michael Kors & Nike along with a million gorgeous cafes and bistros. I was originally planning on doing a beachwear post today but due to the cloudy skies we decided to give the beach a miss which leads me nicely onto my outfit! I love this jumper so so much it's become a staple in my wardrobe ever since I bought it, if you don't believe me even look at Steph's post over on ispysj! It was perfect today due to the lack of sun paired with some new shorts I purchased since being here as I've been dying to invest in some white denim as soon as I got a bit of colour on my skin! All in all a really easy to wear outfit for holiday shopping when its not the hottest day out!

Style Post: Spring/Summer

So, surprise surprise I went shopping today. Again. Don't judge. The sun was shining down in Hull and what better to celebrate this rare occasion than to buy some summer clothes? The shirt I bought back in the Christmas sales oddly enough but I knew it'd be perfect for winter under a jumper or summer with jeans and shorts, I absolutely love it with this outfit. The dungarees*, where do I start? Due to having a fab group of friends all with different clothes tastes and style I was recently reintroduced back to the dungarees although first through the Topshop denim skirt version or the 'Pini'. Cue a lot of fashion envy over this friends look and bam, I'm hooked on the dungarees trend! I decided to opt for a smarter dress up or dress down dungarees as I'm spending 4-6 weeks in Los Angeles this summer so these can be styled with different items depending on which part of the city we're visiting. After trying on a more 'dungareesy' style of paisley print in Topshop a few weeks ago shopping with my mum we decided that the fit just wasn't flattering me at all, so for the time being I gave up. 

Fast forward to today. After dragging my boyfriend round shops for an hour (much to his dismay as there was a good day of football on) we decided to pop into Topshop before we went to do a supermarket shop. Best decision ever. They only had one pair of these left in my size again, this is so often my excuse for spending, that I just had to try them on, I instantly fell in love. Since I've got home I've rooted through my drawers and wardrobes to try them on with other clothes and have found four other outfits I can make with these so far and I think they'll work with summer sandals, flats, vans and possibly even heels for an evening look! I also tried them on with tights which still looked good thus making them versatile as I can wear them all year round. Therefore I can happily say they're worth the £34 (-10% Student Discount in my case) that Topshop are selling them for!

*Whilst Topshop have labelled these as a Playsuit on their website I personally believe they follow more of the dungaree style so I've referred to them as dungarees throughout based on my beliefs, feel free to disagree though!

I thought I'd try my hand at a 'style post' as I love reading them on all of your blogs so here goes nothin'! This is probably one of my favourite outfits in my wardrobe currently, although weather dependent upon which coat/jacket I team with it. This is my 'go to' shopping style because it looks stylish enough (excuse the dirty vans I wore them on a night out the day before!) to wear in bigger cities such as Leeds and Manchester yet doesn't look out of place in the smaller towns at home. So the top has been one of my wardrobe staples for probably about two years now which is why I adore Zara, clothes that you can love for years and still remain fashionable, what more can a girl want?! My bag is also from Zara and was a Christmas present from mumma as she understands my need for big tote bags, university problems. The skirt is one of my new wardrobe loves, so much in fact that I'm planning on buying it in more colours for the summer & am tempted into getting the denim versions, however, the price tag is putting me off a bit as they're quite expensive at £40 (from the amount I wear it I find I can justify that price). The sunglasses are Ray-Ban but from Dubai about three years ago, I think they were limited edition at the time as I've never seen anyone with the same style nor seen them in the shops. Most importantly for me though is that its comfortable enough to wear for hours and makes me feel really confident and happy in what im wearing!
